After graduating cum laude from the University of Chicago Law School in 1983, Heidi Massa spent 18 years litigating at some of Chicago’s premier law firms. As a partner at McDermott, Will & Emery, and later in positions at top civil litigation boutiques, she has always been highly regarded as a no-nonsense lawyer who brings rigor, intelligence and efficiency to the processes of defining and developing a piece of litigation.
Heidi's expertise is the sophisticated analysis of evidence, pleadings, and the law. She currently works with law firms on a freelance basis, available as needed to jump in and provide top-notch analytic services, free of overhead and at a relatively low hourly rate. With her experience and maturity, Heidi makes affordable the level of pre-trial analysis that might otherwise be cost-prohibitive in all but the largest matters.
In pre-trial discovery or internal investigations, Heidi analyses and organizes the evidence. After gaining a comprehensive understanding of the business context surrounding the dispute, including the roles and relationships of key participants, she develops a supportable, evidence-based narrative of the facts and collects the most powerful records to support your case.
She distills information into concise, well-crafted and readable briefs and memoranda, as well as custom tools to support advanced trial preparation efforts, such as annotated summaries of evidence and outlines for witness interviews and depositions. She also serves as a knowledgeable resource for spot inquiries and emergency research.
